Crochet project: Crazy Patchwork blanket

The pattern for it can be found here: http://gingerschatz.blogspot.com/2011/09/tutorial-crazy-patchwork-klimt-blankets.html

Breaking it down, I need: 35 2 round squares, 64 4 round squares, 24 6 round squares, 21 8 round squares, and 3 10 round squares. A total of 147 squares.

I currently have: 29 2 round squares and nothing else. My goal today is to finish the 2 round squares, and make 4 4 round squares.

Fall is almost here!

Preseason football has started….my beloved Saints lost to my second favorite Patriots by one point. Baseball season is starting to wind down, with the Boston Red Sox closer to the end of the pack than the leaders. Summer Olympics are coming to a close with the USA pulling ahead of China in medal count to dominate once more.

With fall almost here and football starting, my crochet hooks have been dusted off, and a new crochet pattern taken out so that a blanket can be made for my older daughter.

I finished Dance With the Devil by Sherrilyn Kenyon, and am starting Ender’s Game. I’ve been tempted to start this book more times than I can count, and I’m only disappointed that I didn’t read it sooner.

Speaking of books, I’m juggling the idea of interviewing an author. Maybe I can get Jane Etarie, or pull a friend who has published a book.

Life should be easier

My co-worker’s mother died on Sunday. I’ve offered to work her weekend so that she doesn’t have to worry about that during her time of grief. I’ve got to get some of the shawl done tonight.

I finished Visits from the Afterlife and am halfway through Cat Daddy. I’ll try to get to reviewing it this week perhaps.

Work has been good, I guess. More responsibility since our senior tech is on vacation, but nothing I can’t handle. The vice president of the hospital came in and shadowed Blood Bank and Chemistry for awhile….that was stressful. He’s the one with the power of budget, and that is certainly important in our mundane, litle insignificant peon lives as hospital workers. He’s going to be shadowing in Hematology in two weeks but I’ll be on vacation.

Happy Sunday everyone

A new week, a new blog, a new adventure. Its been years since I’ve blogged, but I feel the need to do it once more.

Right now, I’m working on a prayer shawl for a co-worker whose mother is not doing very well in the hospital. She’s off for another week, and I’m hoping that if I can work on it an hour a day I can get it finished by the time she gets back.

I’m also about 1/3 of the way through Sylvia Browne’s book Visits from the Afterlife. This isn’t a book I usually read, and I’ve got Jackson Galaxy’s book Cat Daddy in the wings waiting for when I finish this one.

I brought the girls to the library on Friday, and ran into two girls from our Girl Scout troop. A very big reminder that summer is halfway through and I’ve got to get on the ball as far as planning meetings.
