There were so many paralells and similarities to Hunger Games, that it was a little off-setting. But, it was different enough to keep my attention. In many, if not all of the books I read, I try to put myself in the main character’s place (especially if the main character is a female…sometimes I just can’t get into a male’s head). In this instance, I could put myself in Tris’ place. I try to think of myself (whether I really am or not is another matter) as selfless as possible. Could I be Abnegation? Oh hell no! I have tried to put everyone before myself at one time, and have learned that if I don’t take care of myself, no one else will either! However, could I be Dauntless? Um…NO! I don’t have a brave bone in my body, and certainly not a dare-devil one. If anything, I would totally see myself in Erudite. If I had a chance to have a second career, I would definitely go library sciences.
Ultimately, this is a good story, romance is in it, but its not so heavy that it distracts from the actual storyline. This book is definitely worth a re-read or two. The surface read was great, but I’m sure there are deeper issues that could be delved into in further re-reads.
